The inspiring courses in Hisar School are designed to support the interest and potential of students in STEM areas, create experiences that provide STEM knowledge and skills, to empower students with the capability required in their choice of profession, eventually to create a generation who can follow technological developments closely, who possesses the capacity to self-invest all these acquired skills and who can develop new and original ideas and products. The courses that are offered in science, technology and mathematics disciplines and their content are consistently developed and updated under the light of Hisar School’s technology, innovation and creativity policy.
AP Biology course is designed as equivalent to the courses of Biology branch in college. AP biology includes 4 main ideas/themes: evolution, reproduction-growth and development, dynamic homeostasis and energy cycles in living systems, inheritance and genetics, and interactions within biological systems. The inquiry-based investigations and activities support students to develop skills in communication, teamwork and critical thinking. The course provides students with opportunities to connect their biological and scientific major social issues such as innovations and technological advances. Besides it helps students to develop and record evidence of their verbal, written, and graphic communication skills through laboratory reports, oral or written presentations, and scientific researches.
AP Physics 1
AP Physics course aims to build a strong scientific foundation for students in their first year of university and to improve analytical and scientific thinking skills of them. One of the main goals of the programme is to prepare students for AP Physics 1 exam. The topics of the course can be gathered under three basic titles; mechanics, electricity, and waves. Mechanics constitutes a great part of the programme. Lectures are designed as both including theoretical and experimental studies. In addition to the emphasis of AP curriculum on conceptual understanding and scientific decision making, problem-solving skills of students are improved during the process. So a good level of mathematics background in grade 9 and 10 is expected to take the course.
AP Physics C-Electricity and Magnetism
This course is offered to 12th grade students who completed 11th grade AP Physics 1 and AP Calculus AB courses. This program is primarily recommended by the teachers to students who are successful in 11th grade AP Calculus and Physics courses. In this course, electrostatics; conductors, capacitors, and dielectrics; electric circuits; magnetic fields; and electromagnetism topics are given at university level by using introductory differential and integral calculus. The AP Exam is not a requirement of our AP program. AP Physics C course is recommended for students who want to study engineering at the University. Some universities provide Physics 1 course credit to the students who have successfully completed this course.
AP Physics C Mechanics
This course is offered to 12th grade students who completed 11th grade AP Physics 1 and AP Calculus AB courses. This program is primarily recommended by the teachers to students who are successful in 11th grade AP Calculus and Physics courses. In this course, kinematics; Newton's laws of motion; work, energy and power; systems of particles and linear momentum; circular motion and rotation; and oscillations and gravitation topics are given at university level by using introductory differential and integral calculus. The AP Exam is not a requirement of our AP program. AP Physics C course is recommended for students who want to study engineering at the University. Some universities provide Physics 1 course credit to the students who have successfully completed this course.
AP Chemistry course is designed as equivalent to one year course of Chemistry branch in college. The program allows students to gain strong experiences in concepts of chemistry and labs. As a result, the students are exempt from general Chemistry courses of the first year in college. Students must be prepared for an intensive and original study program to be successful. The course is organized around six main ideas. These ideas include; Atomic Structure and Spectroscopy, Bonds and Intermolecular Forces, Thermodynamics, Chemical Equilibrium, Kinetics, Electrochemistry and Chemical Reactions. Moreover, it helps students to develop their verbal and written skills through laboratory reports, and scientific researches. The AP Chemistry course is intended to provide the foundation for the exam given by the ’College Board in May every year. Before this examination, a practice test is carried under the conditions of a real AP Chemistry test to prepare students for the exam day.
Calculus AB is primarily concerned with developing the students’ understanding of the concepts of Calculus and providing experience with its methods and applications. The course emphasizes a multi-representational approach to Calculus, with concepts, results, and problems being expressed graphically, numerically, analytically, and verbally. The course provides opportunities for students to implement algebraic/computational processes; to build notational fluency and to communicate mathematical ideas in words, both orally and in writing. Technology is used regularly by students and teachers to reinforce the relationship among the multiple representations of functions, to confirm written work, to implement experimentation, and to assist in interpreting results.
Calculus BC is primarily concerned with developing the students' understanding of the concepts of Calculus and providing experience with its methods and applications. The course emphasizes a multi-representational approach to Calculus, with concepts, results, and problems being expressed graphically, numerically, analytically, and verbally. Technology is used regularly by students and teachers to reinforce the relationship among the multiple representations of functions, to confirm written work, to implement experimentation, and to assist in interpreting results by means of conducting explorations, graphing functions, solve equations numerically, approximating the derivative at a point using numerical methods, approximating a definite integral using numerical methods, analyzing and interpreting results, justifying and explaining results of graphs and supporting conclusions obtained by algebraic methods.
PreCalculus is a course that combines reviews of algebra, geometry, and functions into a preparatory course for calculus. Topics include fundamental concepts of Algebra, functions, and graphs, polynomials and rational functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, trigonometric functions, analytic trigonometry, topics in trigonometry, systems of equations and inequalities. Throughout the course, Common Core standards are taught and reinforced as the students learn how to apply the concepts in real life situations. Students are also expected to become proficient in utilizing and interpreting the results from graphing calculators and dynamic geometry software, as important investigative tools.
Advanced Biology course is offered to 12th grade students completed AP biology course. The course focuses on the biological concepts beyond AP Biology and MEB (Ministry of Education) curriculum in order to contribute the students’ biological understanding and help them become scientifically literate citizens. The course includes pharmacogenetics and personalized medicine/drugs, human physiology, neuroscience, and biochemistry of cancer. The course is designed as a seminar course and the curriculum is enriched with students’ research and presentations.
Advanced Chemistry course is a 12th-grade course which is offered to students with AP chemistry background. The course content was developed to include the theory of Analytical Chemistry course at the university and the laboratory studies. Students who take the Advanced Chemistry course, prepare a scientific research project by synthesizing the subjects and skills they have learned in AP Chemistry course. Students who report their studies as scientific research projects, present their works by participating in international conferences. These studies are evaluated by academicians and students have an opportunity to publish their projects in refereed journals.
AP Advanced Computer Science A

AP CS A, computer science subjects involve problem-solving, design strategies ve methodologies, databases, data processing approaches, algorithms, analytic, ethical and social problem-solving methods. With the projects, they make our students use and develop their robotics, electronics, and advanced programming skills.
AP CS Principles
Computer science is the most important component that shapes our daily life and gives power to technology, productivity, and innovation. In the AP CS Principles course, students learn the creative side of programming, algorithms, large data sets, the internet, cybersecurity and data processing. AP CS Principles gives students the opportunity to use the current technologies and application development to express their self and solve problems. With the projects, they make our students use and develop their robotics, electronics, and advanced programming skills.
Graphic Design and Multimedia Courses
In this day and age, visual design plays an even more important role in our daily lives; both in the way we think and the way we express ourselves. We give our students Graphic Design and Multimedia courses using common high-level applications. Studies in this field are done by considering design principles; color, composition, hierarchy, typography. The students are doing their university portfolios, prototypes of their projects, creating interfaces for their applications and visual identity work for the events organized at the school via this course. Product development, engineering, film, animation, art, architecture, graphic design and multimedia, and advertisement is a good area of focus for students that are interested and want to start the learning experience.

Introduction to Mechatronics
Students in this course work on robotics with a physics-based approach which focuses on mechanics, dynamics and electronics applications. Applications with multiple variables, of disciplines that bring robotics out are discovered both theoretically and practically. Students, throughout the course, work on different skills and disciplines like kinematic equations and derivations, 3d design assembly and simulation, PCB production and circuit analysis. By designing and constructing robotics systems students conduct experiments to make a connection between theories and real-life applications of robotics.
Introduction to Engineering Mechanics
By using one of the most popular online learning environment, Coursera, two different lessons from Georgia Institutes of Technology are covered in an elective lesson for the first time in Turkey. With this lesson, students complete Introduction to Engineering Mechanics and Applications In Engineering Mechanics by G-Tech. While they focus on online assignments, in class they discuss, practice and study on advanced skills that they need to complete the lesson. Thanks to blended education strategies, students have a chance to advance in engineering mechanics in undergraduate level. All students own two different certificates approved by Georgia Institute of Technology and Coursera as an official and international indicator of their achievement.

Pre Ap Computer Science & Robotics

Design Thinking and Entrepreneurship
The class includes ”Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Design Thinking, Entrepreneur's Vision, Mission, and Strategy“. Design Thinking uses a clear strategy for solving problems and healing continuum topics. The human-centered approach that includes the steps of identifying, defining and analyzing a problem, developing ideas for the solution, prototyping, and feedback was first found and developed by Stanford University. The class content is developed by d.school Stanford resources. Entrepreneurship strategies and innovation have an important place in this course. The goal of the course is to orient students to an entrepreneurial mindset and to graduate as individuals who use the process of innovation and develop solutions with a design thinking perspective.

Introduction to Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence / ML course is started for our high school students in 2018-2019. This course includes Microsoft Mooc as a system and can be taken on an online platform that also enables students to gain university-level skills. Students also get a certificate of achievement that is valid in several universities. This study is cooperated with Microsoft and is applied in Turkey for the first time. The course content is developed by collaboration with Boğaziçi University.
3D Design and Prototyping
The 3D design lesson aims to give students the ability to create their 3-dimensional designs digitally on the computer. The course uses at least two different 3D design programs that are widely used today. Product development, engineering, film, animation, art, architecture, graphic design and multimedia, and advertisement is a good area of focus for students that are interested and want to start the learning experience. The main skills needed are sketch-drawing, prototyping, modeling, material usage, animation, and 3D printing.
