The 1st Hisar ‘Teachers Teaching Teachers’ workshops (TTT) were held on Sep 2.
Earlier this year, we created the Professional Development Committee within the scope of the Strategic Plan. TTT workshops are an output of this committee, and they are organized by teachers for teachers to share their own extraordinary knowledge and experiences with one another.
The TTT workshops held on Sep 2 were put together by David Mearns, Mehmet Aksoy, Mahir Badem, Gülçin Cırık Doğramacı, Utku Öztekin, Burcu Çingay, Mustafa Boyacıoğlu and James Snowden. There were workshops on 8 topics ranging from math to music, modern languages to overseas university counseling.
The participation and the interest in the workshops were high and each department prepared presentations for the workshops. Philip West represented the Math department and presented an interesting topic on Adult Arithmetic to his fellow colleagues. Barış Has from the Turkish literature department spoke about the “ThingLink” program and how technology has transferred into the education. From the music department, Derya Baysal taught teachers how to use their diaphragms when singing.
Burcu Çingay and Ayden Demirkuş from the Social Science department talked about the design of the learning process and how to integrate technology into it. From the Modern Languages department, Hilal Özbideciler spoke about non-traditional video performance evaluations and Selay Özkan talked about Bloom program customs and introduced teachers to its application models. Brentson Ramsey from English prep shared information about the “formative” program, which is designed to accelerate and monitor students’ progress.
The International University Counseling department gave tips on how to write recommendation letters and described the different types of letters. Last but not least, the Art department put together a fun event for teachers to tie dye t-shirts.
We look forward to sharing news about the various TTT workshops that our teachers will be organizing throughout the year.
