Main aim of the course is to guide students for their future choices in Science studies in their academic life. Topics from different fields in physics are held in variety.
Physics course take place three hours in a week. Main subject is conceptual understanding along with problem-solving.
Basic Physics topics are provided to students based on concepts through grade 10 Physics courses. Making sense of scientific knowledge, association, analyzing, giving examples from daily life, using scientific methods and problem-solving through information are general achievements of the course. The course is designed to contribute the studies of the students who will continue studying Science in college. Main subjects are force and motion, Newton’s law, motion in one dimension, energy, impulse and momentum, moment and balance, electrostatics, magnetism, electric current, electromagnetic induction, alternate current. We focus on not only conceptual comprehension but also problem-solving. So, the course requires a good basis of math in grade 10.
The course aims to develop basic concepts of Physics. The students develop their skills by solving problems they encounter while doing their research and analyze laws of physics. The students have four hours Physics course at this level.
AP Grade 11
Aim of the course is to provide an education to contribute studies of the students wishing to continue studying Science in college. The course is also a preliminary for AP Physics 1. Although the courses are based on comprehension, it also focuses on problem-solving and critical-thinking. For this reason, the course requires a good basis of Math in grade 9 and 10.
Grade 10 & 11 Mechatronics 1
The course introduces the science field where mechanics, electric-electronics, computer engineering interconnect and basic skills for technological product production and design in grade 10 and 11. The students carry out their studies by combining theory and practice with the help of VEX EDR and V5 sets. Students who gather for 70minutes lessons each week both develop theorically about engineering ethics, design engineering processes, mechanics, computer-based design, programming and electronics and practice the theories on different applications. While putting theory into practice with mentorship of their teachers, students also develop the skills gained in courses through VEX Robotics Competition tournament. Mechaminds Mechatronics Club makes their preparations for the tournaments in club hours and after school practices. Throughout 2 semesters, the students who present their learning outcomes in differet areas are evaluated through a written exam and projects.
Grade 11 and 12 Introduction to Engineering Mechanics by Georgia Tech University
Georgia Institute of Technology provides online Engineering Mechanics and Applications in Engineering Mechanics courses via course platform Coursera to students of grade 11 and 12. The students who follow the course online and take the tests on Coursera are entitled to two different certificates by Georgia Institute of Technology. Students experience the principles and calculation methods they learn through the process by using differentiated variables such as tension on bridge systems, flexion, resistance, cable systems.
Grade 12 AP Physics C Mechanics
The students are registered to the course as long as their teachers advise them to do so and after they score more than 70 in Math and Science courses in grade 11. AP Physics C course is held 4 hours in a week. Additionally, it has a lab course lasting 80 minutes in a week. The students are expected to spare 5 hours of individual study time for the course.
12. Sınıf AP Fizik C-Elektrik ve Manyetizm
The students are registered to the course as long as their teachers advise them to do so and they become successful in Math and Science courses in grade 11. AP tests are not an obligation of AP program. AP Physics C course is held 4 hours in a week. Additionally, it has a lab course lasting 80 minutes in a week. The students are expected to spare 5 hours of individual study time for the course.
